1. Until 45 BC, the most commonly registered calendar system happened to be the Roman calendar

2. In the year 45 BC, Julius Caesar decided to clean up the Roman calendar to generate a civil calendar, and switch to the Julian calendar with the able guidance of the Alexandrian astronomer, Sosigenes

3. Julian calendar had 365 days and 12 months taking the solar cycle into account

4. Over time, the discrepancy between Julian calendar and real solar cycle impacted the estimation of seasons

5. This discrepancy resulted in the creation of the Gregorian Calendar in 1582

6. Gregorian Calendar, which has become more of a standard now, was adopted at different times since the first adoption with even Britain taking another 170 years to make January 1st (1752) as the first day of the year.
