This article appears to make blanket statements. As with any organizational culture, we need to express our views and greeting first based on the receiver. Greeting for someone, whom you are meeting for the first time should be cordial, but not borderline offensive (for sure, not completely offensive). Similarly, communicating with coworkers should revolve around place, time, and the extent of association. It is in a way relevant even for household network communication.
