Mistakes do happen. This example showcases the importance of acting the right way after realizing the mistake rather than playing the blame game. The confidence to accept the mistake, and share it to the publishers, most probably, comes from personal integrity, and also a lot on having a conducive and healthy organiz(s)ational environment and culture that understands mistakes do happen.

This example also presents challenges involved in verifying data, and results that involves an interdependent connected team.
